The lethal weapon.

Bernardo da Silva

At 6’9”, 205lbs and an eye-popping 7'2" wingspan, senior Bernardo da Silva is the versatile big man who can rise to defend the rim, grab the rebound, lead the fast break and dunk at the other end. As a fiery, competitive and dominant power forward, he is an absolute beast on the blocks and has the ability to take the game over at any moment with essentially every midrange shot in his arsenal.

#5 // Forward

Bernardo has overcome an injury from last season to really blossom this fall. He is very capable of shooting the ball. Bernardo is one of our best on the block and can score in many creative ways. He is great at finding the open man and can rebound well with his quickness and fast jumping ability.

Off the Court

Bernardo is from Rio das Ostras, Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Brazil. He has 1 older brother. His parents are Rociele and Marilene da Silva.

Off the court Bernardo likes hanging out with friends, playing checkers, and cooking Brazilian food (his go-to home cooked meal is Brazilian Beef Stroganoff). One of his favorite American foods is French Toast, but root beer...not so much!

Education is important to Bernardo. His free time is often spent catching up on homework to maintain his GPA.

His favorite place to “chill” is on the beach, especially in Rio, where he enjoys swimming in the warm ocean. He was excited to touch real snow for the first time when he arrived in Utah.

He enjoys listening to Brazilian rap, and since arriving to Utah, “James the Mormon,” due to his catchy beat and clean lyrics.

Bernardo is religious, reads the Bible, and attends church on Sundays. He likes the conservative but friendly Utah culture and feels at home here.
